How long have you been saying you really need a break?
Most of us have a cosy getaway living somewhere in the back of our minds. A cabin with a log burner, a seaside cottage, a night under canvas. It stays a someday idea because there is always something more urgent to sort first.
This week, why not take 15 minutes for a little hygge moment and plan your next cosy escape and book it? Turning a daydream into a date on the calendar gives you something warm to look forward to.
One night away counts.
Make it cosy
Before you start browsing, set yourself up:
- Your laptop or phone, fully charged
- Your calendar open so you can spot a free weekend
- A rough budget in your head, or on a scrap of paper
- A comfy seat, a soft throw and a lamp on low
- A warm drink to sip while you dream a little
Your 15 minutes of planning ahead
- Pick a date. Find one free night or weekend and circle it.
- Choose your cosy. Cabin, cottage, glamping pod, tent or a friend’s spare room.
- Keep it close. Look within an easy drive or train ride so it feels simple.
- Narrow it down. Choose two favourites and compare them quickly.
- Book it now. Press the button before the doubts creep back in.
Slow it right down
Planning does not need to feel like another job on the list. Let yourself enjoy the looking. Half the pleasure of a trip is the happy waiting beforehand.
As you browse, try to notice:
- Which pictures make your shoulders drop
- Whether you are craving quiet, nature or company
- The little details that feel like you, a fire, a view, a deep bath
- How lovely it feels once the date is fixed
Finish gently
Once it is booked, write it on the calendar in your nicest pen and let yourself feel properly excited. If you are drawn to the outdoors, have a read of how to bring hygge to your next camping trip for a few ideas.
You could also:
- Start a little packing list on your phone
- Choose a book you will save just for the trip
- Tell someone you love so they can look forward to it with you
- Put a small photo of the place somewhere you will see it
Your 15-minute challenge
This weekend, give yourself 15 minutes.
Open your calendar. Find a free date. Pick somewhere cosy.
Then book it before you talk yourself out of it.
It does not have to be far away. It does not have to be expensive.
It just has to be booked.
Something cosy is coming, and you made it happen.
